6/10/26 Eagle River Fishing with Jason & Golf Crew

Location: Wolcott Stretch

Our annual crew was back on the water this week! Repeat client Jason and his friends made their annual golf trip, but per tradition, they carved out a day to chase trout on the Eagle.

The bugs finally showed up, and the fish noticed. PMDs, Yellow Sallies, and Caddis lined the banks and had trout looking up all afternoon. We rotated through all three patterns, and each one produced.

Conditions: The river’s still running high, and the wading was slick — felt like skating in a few spots. We went heavy on weight to get down in the fast water, and that made the difference. Once we got the drift right, it was game on.

Results: All three anglers hooked up consistently and landed fish throughout the four-hour guided trip. Nothing giant, but solid, healthy Eagle River trout and a ton of action. Most importantly, laughs were nonstop, and nobody went home skunked.

Jason and the golf crew are already talking about next year. We’ll have the heavy nymph rigs ready.

Hot Flies: PMD nymphs/emergers #16-18, Yellow Sally dries #14-16, Caddis pupa #14-16

Tip: Bring your wading staff and don’t skimp on the split shot. If you’re not ticking bottom, add weight.
