Why walk and wade? Streamside trips as opposed to a boat or “float trip” offer a unique connection to the river that can’t be rivaled.
Technique is key in walk-wade situations and can often be overlooked from the boat. Though it’s nice to have a float guide row you into position or maintain the speed of your drift for you, learning and perfecting your cast, mends and drifts is essential to productive fly fishing.
Sure we want to catch fish, we plan on it. Lot’s of em. We certainly want to make it as easy as possible while having the most fun you can have standing up, however a wise man once said "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime" - Chuck Norris.
Eagle River Outfitter hopes that you leave with a love for the sport of fly fishing and a want to continue your fly fishing endeavors as well as pass it along to friends, family and loved ones (along with the conservation practices that keep this great sport going).
Chances are you don’t own a drift boat and most of your fishing will not be done in a boat so why learn this way? Let us simplify casting, teach you how to read water and show you how to choose the right fly with ease. Let us show you how to “read” water, make a drag-free drift and finally hook, fight and land fish confidently and quickly.
Finally and most importantly, let’s have fun doing it with waders on and a good stretch of water to pick apart as a team. Listen to Chuck Norris.
