PHEASANT TAIL FLASHBACK B.H. SCUD HOOK

Description

The Pheasant Tail Flashback B.H. Scud Hook is a refined twist on the timeless Pheasant Tail Nymph, tied on a curved scud hook to more accurately mimic the natural shape of emerging mayfly and caddis nymphs. Its flashback wing case adds a subtle glimmer that imitates trapped air during emergence, while the bead head provides weight to reach trout feeding zones quickly. This fly’s combination of natural materials, lifelike profile, and added flash makes it a consistent producer in clear, pressured waters.

Design / Features

Built with natural pheasant tail fibers, fine wire ribbing, and a durable flashback wing case, this fly captures both realism and attraction. The curved hook creates a more natural swimming silhouette, while the bead head ensures the pattern sinks quickly. The subtle flashback acts as a trigger in bright or deep water, enticing trout to strike even under tough conditions.

When and Where to Use

The Pheasant Tail Flashback B.H. Scud Hook performs exceptionally well in tailwaters, spring creeks, and freestone rivers throughout the year. It excels during mayfly hatches—especially Baetis and PMDs—and can be fished as a dropper beneath a dry or under an indicator in deeper currents. Its versatility and natural presentation make it a foundational pattern for any trout angler.
