RED SQUIRREL TUNGSTEN W/LEGS

Description

Red Squirrel w/Legs Tungsten – a buggy attractor nymph with extra action and weight

The Red Squirrel w/Legs Tungsten is a modern twist on a timeless nymphing classic. This pattern combines the natural buggy appeal of squirrel dubbing with rubber legs for added movement and a tungsten bead for fast sink rates. The result is a highly effective, lifelike fly that excels in a variety of water conditions. It’s a fantastic choice when trout are feeding opportunistically or when you need a dependable searching pattern.

Design / Features

The Red Squirrel w/Legs Tungsten features natural squirrel dubbing that creates a shaggy, buggy profile and traps microbubbles for added realism. The rubber legs provide subtle, lifelike movement underwater, triggering strikes from even hesitant fish. A tungsten bead adds extra weight to cut through current quickly and keep the fly in the strike zone. Its rugged build and balanced profile make it a workhorse pattern for aggressive and selective trout alike.

When & Where to Use

The Red Squirrel w/Legs Tungsten shines in freestones, tailwaters, and pocket water year-round. It’s especially productive in moderate to fast currents where movement and weight make the difference. Ideal for Euro-nymphing, tight-line rigs, or indicator setups, this pattern is versatile, durable, and proven to produce consistent results.
