Description

Profile: Slender and flat. It represents a “spent” mayfly that has finished mating and fallen to the water.
Wings: Usually translucent and splayed out at a 90-degree angle to the hook.
Common Materials: CDC fibers, Z-lon, Hi-Vis post material, or guinea feathers (the latter imitates the natural speckled wing pattern).
Body: Slender and segmented, typically in shades of grey to tan or light olive.
Common Materials: Turkey or goose biots (to create natural segmentation), synthetic quill wraps, or fine dubbing.
Tail: Two or three long, thin fibers, often split to help the fly balance and float correctly on the surface.
