WD40 NYMPH PATTERNS

Description

WD40’s – are a classic midge emerger with a subtle flash trigger

The WD40’s is a proven trout fly designed to imitate emerging midges and mayflies with just the right amount of added attraction. The black body gives it a natural, stealthy profile, while the flashback wing adds a subtle trigger that draws the attention of selective trout. These fly fishing flies are a staple for winter and early spring tailwater fishing when precision matters most.

Design / Features

The WD40’s features a slim black thread body, soft dubbing near the thorax, and a flashback wing case that creates lifelike shine without being overpowering. Tied on a fine-wire hook, it offers a delicate, natural drift that fools even the wariest trout. The simple, durable construction ensures consistent performance day after day on technical waters.

When & Where to Use

The WD40’s excels in tailwaters, spring creeks, and stillwaters during midge and small mayfly hatches. It’s ideal for use as a dropper beneath a dry, in Euro-nymphing rigs, or under an indicator. Perfect for clear water, light tippet, and wary trout.
